What to do if this happens.
The first rule is do not panic, it is normal
to get upset and frustrated but if you get
frustrated and bang things it will be more
costly to you in the end.

Listen to the hard
drive it it is making noises such as clinking,
grinding etc, shut it off, this normally means
that there is something wrong with the drive and
if it continues to run recovery is less likely
to happen.
If at all possible write down all information
concerning the hard drive the model number is
the most useful for techs that will be helping
you retrieve your data and help you with a solution.
But remember the longer you wait the more costly
it will be to you.
Tips on removing the hard drive yourself:
Hard drives are sensitive to static shock so make
sure that you unplug the computer before you attempt
to remove the hard drive. Also make sure that you
have no static yourself, one way to do this is to
touch the power supply cord when it is plugged into
the computer and if all possible place the removed
hard drive in a static free bag.
When you send your hard drive out to be repaired,
place the drive in a static free bag and wrap
it in protective wrapping to avoid any further
damage during the mailing process.
Before you send out your drive for repairs make
sure that you research on the company that will
be fixing the hard drive.
The first thing to look for is that they have
experience in physical damage of a hard drive,
otherwise you may more damage done.
Note: To avoid losing important data if your
hard
drive crashes the common rule is to do backup
discs with all your valuable data such as a cd
or dvd.
